SACRAMENTO, California – The California High Speed Rail Authority has submitted two applications for a total of nearly $ 1.3 billion in federal grants for the country’s first high-speed rail project. The requests are the first major push for a continued federal partnership under the recently enacted Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, signed by President Biden in November 2021.
“With the continued commitment of the state and the leadership and support of the Biden Administration, we are confident that we will deliver a project that the country will be proud of,” Governor Newsom said in his letter of support for the grants. “California is home to innovation and we are committed to advancing this innovative project to improve our economy, advance clean mobility and expand economic opportunities for all.”
