California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday raised the possibility of imposing a reduction in water use in the event of a drought in an effort to increase safety.
The governor of the Democratic Alliance met with representatives from a number of water agencies, including those that supply water to some of the most densely populated areas in the country, including Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco.
“Every water service in the country should take drastic measures to address the problem of drought and take precautionary measures,” he said in a statement. “Californians have made significant changes since the last drought but we have seen an increase in water use, especially as we enter the summer months. We all need to think carefully about making all the drops fall.”
The country is in the third year of drought and most areas are in severe or severe drought.

During the last drought, from 2012 to 2016, former Governor Jerry Brown approved a 25% cut in state water use, and the national water board imposed a requirement that each water district had to cut according to their water use. ; regions that used a lot of water were asked to cut more. Water agencies can be fined up to $ 10,000 a day if they do not comply.
January to March is the wettest California area and the annual snowfall, but this year those months were the hardest during the century.
In July 2021, Newsom called on Californians to voluntarily cut water use by 15% with short baths, stabilize water use for cleaning and outdoor areas and other measures. After the failure, he gave a statement from an elder in March calling on local water agencies to increase their response to the drought.
He even called on the State Water Resources Control Board to vote on a ban on irrigating turf, like grass in office parks, and to pressure local organizations to increase their conservation activities.
