A logger died Tuesday in Menlo Park, Calif., when he was pulled into a wood chipper, officials said.

Officers at Menlo Park in the San Francisco Bay Area were called at 12:53 a.m. to a report that an employee had fallen into a wood chipper, the police department said. According to the police, the man died from his injuries when the police arrived.

Investigating Cal/OSHA said it was reported that the worker was pulled into the machine while he was cutting trees.

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office said it could not release the worker’s identity or age pending notification of next of kin.
