According to representatives, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, was not with her husband Paul when she was arrested in Napa County on Saturday.

According to the county’s website, Paul Pelos, the wife of Nancy Pelos, Speaker of the House of Representatives in Napa County, California, was charged with drink-driving on Saturday night.

Mr Pelosi, 82, was bailed out at $ 5,000. County records show he was released from custody on Sunday morning. The accusation against him is a misdemeanor.

Democrat Ms Pelosi has not discussed the arrest in public. He gave an opening speech at Brown University on Sunday. News of the arrest of her husband was reported by TMZ.

Ms Pelosi’s spokeswoman Drew Hammill said she was not with her husband at the time of the incident.

“The speaker does not comment on the private matter that happened while he was on the East Coast,” Mr Hammill said in an email on Sunday.

Mr. Pelosi, an investor who has usually avoided the spotlight, runs a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, Financial Leasing Services.

This year, as members of Congress’ efforts to ban stock trading gained momentum, Mr Pelosi’s complex and lucrative transactions attracted attention. Investors in TikTok and other platforms reviewed the disclosure of Ms Pelosi’s shares and mimicked her investments.

Mr. Pelosi and Ms. Pelosi own a vineyard in the Napa Valley. The couple met at Georgetown University and married in 1963.
